The espers involved suffered horrific injuries from magical exposure, and were then executed by the Knights of England, since the whole thing violated the truce keeping science and magic apart. Sherry blames both sides equally—for what happened to Ellis, for the cover-up, for everything. She decided the only fair response was to make them hurt the way she did.
