Chabo is a young boy from Gosa Village whose father was killed by Arlong. Driven by a need for revenge, he accepts money from Nami to leave the area, though he later mistakes Usopp for a fish-man because of his prominent nose and attacks him. Nojiko stops him and talks him down, pointing out that he has a mother who'd worry about him—convincing Chabo to go back to her instead of throwing his life away.
When the surviving Gosa residents call in the Marines for help, Chabo alerts Nojiko and the villagers about their arrival. The Marines engage Arlong in battle, but they're no match for him. It's only after Arlong Park finally falls that Chabo lets go of his vendetta and joins the rest of Cocoyashi Village in celebration.
