Gauron is Sousuke's most dangerous opponent throughout the series, though details about his background remain murky. He was once a MITHRIL captain before any of the main cast showed up, which means he and Sousuke's history predates the events of the show. Years earlier, during Sousuke's time fighting in Afghanistan, Sousuke and Soviet commander Major Kalinin ambushed him in a sniper attack that left a distinctive scar across Gauron's forehead.
