Kengo Doujima is a first-year student at Funato High School and a member of the newspaper club. He's known for his solid stamina and genuine chivalry—the type to help out even when it's inconvenient. He and Kobato were in the same elementary school class, which gives their dynamic a bit of history. Kengo finds Kobato's obsession with living an ordinary life kind of baffling and frustrating, but when push comes to shove, he's quick to turn to Kobato for help anyway. There's a tension there between his discomfort with Kobato's choices and his actual reliance on them.
