Rin Tsubokura is a Shinigami researcher at the Shinigami Research and Development Institute who looks almost identical to Hanatarou Yamada, the 7th Seat of the 4th Division. He's typically caught wearing an anxious expression and sports an oddly placed small pigtail on the front of his head. The guy's got a serious sweet tooth—candy and sweets are basically his whole thing—though it's also gotten him into trouble more than once. He's a bit of a klutz too; during one Shinigami Golden Cup event, he face-planted into the sweets display, only to find they were unbreakable.
Despite his fumbling nature, Rin's genuinely good-hearted. When an earth-bound soul needed help baking a cake for his mother, Rin immediately volunteered to assist, brushing aside Yumichika's objections. His love of sweets becomes a major plot point in the DS game Dark Souls, where his addiction essentially enables a Mod Soul named Kai to steal his form and cause chaos.
Mostly assigned to low-stakes missions, Rin has a track record of botching even those. Most famously, when tasked with delivering Ikkaku his molars, he stepped on them—then left a note saying "These molars are invisible for idiots" to cover his tracks.
