Thors is the father of Thorfinn and was once a legendary Jomsviking general known as "The Troll of Jom"—a nickname earned through combat skill that basically defines the entire setting's power ceiling. After his children were born, he got sick of fighting and faked his own death to become a farmer and live peacefully.
That peace didn't last. The Jomsvikings eventually found out he was alive and dragged him back into the war. On his way to the battlefield, his old comrade Floki betrayed him and hired the mercenary Askeladd to kill him.
Most fans consider Thors the strongest fighter in the entire series. He'd beaten both Askeladd and Thorkell in one-on-one combat, which is genuinely absurd. Even Floki, surrounded by his own warriors, refused to fight Thors directly—he was that dangerous. It's a pretty stark contrast to his son, who's formidable but clearly in a different weight class entirely.
Unlike Thorfinn, Thors has no historical basis whatsoever. He's purely a fictional character.
