Sendou stands out among Slam Dunk characters for being genuinely likable—he's always smiling, friendly, and modest despite clearly knowing he's an exceptional player. He never gets angry and respects strong opponents, but he's absolutely a competitor who won't throw away a game. His main weakness is that his focus can slip against weaker teams; he really comes alive when facing quality rivals like Rukawa or Maki.
As a player, he does it all: sharp shooter, solid rebounder, and a smart floor general. He can run a flashy offense or lock down elite forwards like Rukawa on defense. What's surprising for someone his size is his speed and agility. People call him the true Genius—not Sakuragi, who claims the title for himself.
His game evolved in his second year. As a first-year, he was basically a scoring machine (similar to Rukawa's role), but he discovered the joy of playmaking and transformed the team's entire offense. His court vision is exceptional, and his instincts are sharp enough that he made the transition to point guard—unusual for a 6'3" player, but he excels at it. He's undoubtedly Ryonan's ace, and alongside Fukuda and Uozumi, they run one of Kanagawa's most explosive offenses.
Beyond stats, Sendou's the team's emotional anchor. When things get rough, his teammates look to him and believe. He's got that gift for elevating everyone around him. If the team falls behind, he'll flip the switch back to scorer mode without losing his composure or his sense of what the team needs. Fans often say he's the real captain of Ryonan, even when Uozumi holds the title—his calm and his ability to fire up the group set him apart. When Uozumi eventually steps back, Sendou naturally takes over as captain.
