He's a servant from the Abe clan with centuries of history behind him—originally meant to be sacrificed as bait to lure out Orochi. What's kind of the heart of his character, though, is that he fell hard for Botan, basically because she was the only one who actually treated him like a human being instead of just a tool or a sacrifice waiting to happen.
