Lev is half Russian, half Japanese, though he doesn't actually speak Russian since he grew up in Japan. His name is Russian for "lion." He picked up volleyball in high school, so he was still finding his footing early on—which is why he was benched during Karasuno and Nekoma's first match and missed it entirely.
Physically, he's a freak of nature. His height, natural athleticism, and instincts set him apart, and he's got no shortage of confidence. He straight-up calls himself an ace despite being a middle blocker, which pretty much sums up his personality. Kenma's vouched for him as genuinely good-natured and honest.
What you notice first about Lev is his cheerful, kind of childish energy—he's the type to tease Hinata about his height without a second thought. His look is intimidating: those piercing eyes and sharp features make people assume he's serious or scary, but he's the opposite. He's straightforward and can be blunt, but there's no edge to it. He treats most things as a joke.
He gets noticeably fired up about spiking and gets competitive pretty fast with people he's interested in. Enthusiastic doesn't even cover it.
