Duke Klaus von Lichtenlade served as Premier of the Galactic Empire during Friedrich IV's reign and briefly under Erwin Josef II. Unlike other court figures with real power—guys like Duke Otho von Braunschweig or Marquis Wilhelm von Littenheim, who had the Kaiser's family connections to back them up—Lichtenlade was basically stuck in the palace without much influence beyond its walls. When Friedrich IV died, he made a calculated move to back Reinhard von Lohengramm, hoping to use the alliance to build up his own authority. It didn't last long, though. The partnership fell apart almost as quickly as it formed.
