Famous quote: "I want his power. I want to make him mine and become one with him."
Kurumi Tokisaki is the series' main antagonist and arguably its most dangerous threat. She's the third Spirit encountered and obsessed with Shidou, driven by a desire to consume him and absorb his memories, powers, and very essence. According to Mana, she's personally killed over 10,000 people—a body count that doesn't even include spacequake casualties.
On the surface, Kurumi pulls off an innocent schoolgirl act pretty convincingly. She enrolled at Raizen High School by unstated means just to get closer to Shidou, speaking politely and playing the role of a curious, gentle transfer student. But that mask hides something far darker: a psychopathic killer prone to unhinged laughter who sees humans as disposable resources, basically meat to harvest for her own survival. There's a twisted sense of justice to her murders, though—most of her victims were would-be rapists or animal abusers. That said, she once slaughtered four people specifically to save a kitten, which tells you more about her psychology than anything else. She has a soft spot for animals that her psychosis hasn't totally corroded.
Her split personality makes her genuinely unpredictable and hard to pin down. Fans often note how impossible it seems for Shidou to capture her—her mood and methods shift wildly, and she's a skilled enough actress to keep people guessing.
Kurumi's main ability is shadow manipulation, though she's also a capable time manipulator. She uses both powers together to create clones of her past selves—versions with emotions and attachments she's since discarded. These clones are weaker than the current Kurumi and know it; if they stray from her goals, she kills them without hesitation. She can summon a single clone by shooting herself with Zafkiel, or pull out all of them at once from a shadow pool, then reabsorb them and collect all the time they've gathered. She can also partially summon clones through small shadow rifts to pin people in place.
To use any of her abilities, Kurumi needs to call her Angel first, then position her two guns—a musket at 12 o'clock and a flintlock pointing at the numbered hour she wants—before firing the corresponding bullet. On top of everything else, she can trigger and dismiss spacequakes at will, a power she's demonstrated while confronting Shidou directly.
