Staz C. Blood is one of the most powerful district bosses in the demon world—the kind of vampire who crushes anyone foolish enough to challenge him. But here's the thing: he's secretly obsessed with human culture, especially Japanese manga, video games, and anything else from Japan he can get his hands on.
Once Staz decides he wants something, he goes after it with total conviction. So when a young Japanese girl named Fuyumi accidentally wanders into the demon world and ends up dead, he doesn't hesitate: he's bringing her back to life, no matter what. And honestly, it works out for him too, since resurrecting her gives him the perfect excuse to finally visit the human world—something he's always dreamed about.
People often write Staz off as looking lazy or unfocused, which is a mistake. He's packed with abilities: rapid healing, a paralyzing stare that works on weaker demons, the power to control humans and mess with their memories through his saliva, the ability to drain other demons' magic with his bite, and he can literally crush someone's heart from a distance.
He's stubborn as hell and famously lacking in common sense, prone to acting on impulse without thinking things through. He's also weirdly defensive about his identity, sometimes saying things like "I might be a vampire, but first and foremost I'm me"—a statement that matters enough to him that he nearly killed his friend Wolf during a fight when Wolf questioned his reasons for helping Fuyumi and dismissed that whole philosophy. It's clear that his sense of self matters to him more than his vampire nature, even if he doesn't always make that obvious.
