Yaiba grew up in the forest with his father Kenjurou, living a pretty isolated life until the day a gorilla attack forced them to scramble for cover. They ducked into what they thought was a safe hiding spot—a wooden box—only to discover it was packed full of pineapples. Before they could climb back out, the box got loaded onto a truck headed for the city.
That's how Yaiba ended up in civilization, and things got weird fast. He learned he's apparently some kind of legendary warrior, which would've been useful information before arriving in a place full of regular people. Turns out he's got a bigger problem though: a sinister high school student named Takeshi Onimaru, who has an unsettling demonic appearance and represents the kind of evil Yaiba's supposed to be fighting. The transition from forest life to urban warrior destiny isn't exactly smooth, but Yaiba rolls with it.
