Sid is a zombie who died and was resurrected by Dr. Stein. He's best known for his work as a three-star knife meister before his death—a position Stein took over afterward. Though he's no longer alive, Sid remains deeply connected to Death Weapon Meister Academy, helping students and staff however he can. He often reflects on his old life, joking about the strange new freedoms being a zombie has granted him and the things he wishes he could've done when he was actually breathing.
His introduction to the main cast came under unusual circumstances. The school rumor mill had it that Sid attacked students because he'd become obsessed with absolute freedom and wanted to show them what dying had unlocked. When they tracked him down in the graveyard, he fought back hard using his own gravestone as a weapon. It turned out the whole thing was a setup orchestrated by Shinigami and Dr. Stein as part of the students' training—specifically to teach them how to perceive and use soul energy. Only Maka managed to see it clearly on her first try.
These days, Sid works as an informant for the school, keeping tabs on witch activity and their schemes. He's named after Pink Floyd's original frontman, Syd Barrett.
Combat Style
Sid primarily fights with his gravestone or transforms Nygus into a knife. He can also use Azusa for long-range sniper attacks.
Living End — His signature technique. Sid pounds opponents into the ground with his gravestone, releasing an enormous cross of soul energy that works both on solid ground and in mid-air.
Compulsive Burial — Sid enters Soul Resonance with Nygus, then drives her (in knife form) into the earth. This summons coffins beneath a target that function as escape routes, creating a downward tunnel for quick getaways.
