Ishimaru is the Devil Bats' second running back, though you'd hardly know it—that's kind of the whole thing with him. Sena recruited him straight off the track team by taking over half his paper route, which seems like a pretty reasonable deal. He debuted in the Koigahama match but got injured when Sena, not paying attention to equipment details, mixed up their cleats. Despite that rough start, he stuck with the team.
What makes Ishimaru special is his complete and utter lack of presence on the field. Seriously. Opposing teams genuinely don't notice him, which means they definitely don't notice when he gets the ball. He'll slip through gaps and rack up yards while defenders curse themselves for missing him entirely. It's become his signature thing—he's got nicknames like the "Stealth Running Back" and the "Shadowless God of Death," though most people just call him plain Ishimaru.
As the track and field captain, Hiruma naturally refers to him as "Track Star." He primarily blocks for Sena on screen passes and trick plays, working as a fullback. Like Yukimitsu, he's grown out his hair, but again—nobody notices. Ishimaru's pretty easygoing about everything; he goes with the flow and rarely pushes back. His whole vibe is summed up in his catchphrase: "It's alright."
