Charys—originally called Ifrit—is a greater spirit who rules over flame and was sealed inside Shizue Izawa by Demon Lord Leon Cromwell. The seal granted Shizue an extended lifespan as a side effect.
Before his capture, Charys lived peacefully in the Dwelling of the Spirit until Cromwell, known as the "Platinum Devil," stole him away and bound him to Shizue.
As Ifrit, he ranked among the strongest spirits at Special A tier. He's surrounded by an intense maelstrom of flames that serve as constant protection—so scorching that even attacks like Rimuru's water blade evaporate on contact. After Rimuru named and evolved him, his magicule output skyrocketed to rival unawakened demon lords like Frey and Carrion.
His abilities include fire manipulation, combustion, ranged barriers, body doubles, and flare circle attacks. Fans often note that his raw power makes him one of the series' most formidable spirit beings.
