A high school student protagonist living in 2027 Kyoto. He's pretty unremarkable at first—hesitant, not particularly confident or decisive. When his classmates pick him for the book committee, though, that's where things start to shift. He meets Ruri there and the two gradually get closer. Over the course of the film, he actually grows a lot as a person, shedding that uncertainty and becoming someone braver and more dependable.
