Lavi is a cheerful red-haired Exorcist who works for the Black Order primarily to get close to major historical events—his real goal is becoming a Bookman like his mentor. He's got an exceptional memory that lets him recall every detail of anything he's seen, though he's acknowledged it has limits when trying to distinguish fakes from the real deal.
He normally keeps his right eye covered with an eye-patch and uses his left, though both eyes are necessary if he needs to really focus. His anti-Akuma weapon is a size-shifting hammer called Oozuchi Kozuchi (literally "big hammer small hammer") or Nyoibo. It can grow or extend, getting heavier as it expands, but since Lavi's a "conformer," the weight doesn't bother him—everyone else though? Different story.
The hammer's real power comes from summoning elemental seals marked with kanji. Some are question marks, meaning he hasn't fully unlocked them yet. His confirmed techniques include the fire seal for torrents of flame shaped like snakes, the heaven seal for massive lightning strikes, a wood seal for controlling nature, and a combo seal that merges fire and heaven for enormous flaming snakes and fire walls. The water and earth seals exist too, but he hasn't demonstrated them much.
Lavi's got nicknames for everyone: Bookman is "Panda" because of those dark circles around his eyes, Krory is either "Kuro-chan" or "Kro-chan" depending on the version, and he calls a converted Akuma "Chomesuke." He's the only one besides General Tiedoll who calls Kanda by his given name—Yuu—and actually hangs out with him outside missions. He constantly teases Allen, calling him "beansprout" and acting like his older brother.
His likes are straightforward: yakiniku, sleeping, and getting under Kanda's skin. Wasabi? Not a fan. He loves reading and has a running gag where he gets starry-eyed over beautiful older women, yelling "Strike!" whenever his type walks by.
