Omosadake is best known for being perpetually lazy—so much so that keeping his eyes open feels like too much effort. He's a heavyset guy who basically lives with his eyes shut, and the only thing he's willing to exert himself for is eating. He's also part of the Sumo Club, which honestly tracks.
In the manga, Hiruma had to drag him onto the field during the Amino Cyborgs match just to have extra bodies on the line, though Omosadake insists 30 minutes is his absolute limit. The anime expands his role significantly—he first shows up in episode 56 helping the Hah-Hah brothers with line drills before the Poseidons game, and later assists Kurita against Ojo White Knights using defensive tactics inspired by the Taiyō Sphinx to keep strong players like Ootawara in check.
The name itself is actually a joke revealed during the Ojo semi-final. Commentator Kumabukuro noted that "Omosa" means weight and "dake" means only—basically calling Omosadake dead-weight on the team. The anime adds a funny detail: he goes absolutely berserk for mango pudding, suddenly giving it 100% effort, which immediately burns through whatever stamina he has left. He's also roughly the same height as Daikichi Komusubi.
