Sasahara is the third president of Genshiken, though he didn't exactly walk into the role comfortable with his otaku side. He spent the early days denying it outright before eventually accepting and owning who he was. His thing? Hentai PC games—which is funny since he didn't even own a computer until volume 3.
When he took over the club from Madarame, Sasahara's first move was to push Genshiken toward actually doing something: getting their own booth at Comic-Fest. It was a defining moment for him. He's mostly a pretty standard otaku, but what really sets him apart is his borderline obsessive loyalty to a single character—Ritsuko Kübel Kettenkrad (aka "The Chairman") from Kujibiki Unbalance. That's his girl, and his devotion runs deep enough that Genshiken's doujinshi under his presidency was literally all about her.
He's quieter at first, kind of reserved, but the presidency brought out a stronger backbone in him. Not someone bursting with confidence, but he managed to land a job as a manga editor and pushed through his own doubts to confess to Ogiue. By the end of the series, they're still together—and Sasahara's come to accept that she uses him directly as material for her doujinshi. He even helps her out with feedback and unofficial editing, which is either deeply romantic or a relationship hazard, depending on how you look at it.
He stepped down during senior year to focus on job hunting and handed the presidency to Ohno.
