Fans call this fox character "Kitsune," and he's best known for his one-sided crush on Shinobu early in the series. He desperately wants her to notice him romantically, but his cute looks and innocent personality keep her completely oblivious to how he actually feels.
Kitsune can transform and disguise himself as other people whenever it suits him, which sounds impressive until you realize it never actually works—he can't change his height, face, or voice, so everybody sees through it every time. He can talk like a human, but he has this habit of making a "kon" sound whenever he gets excited or frustrated, which is supposedly what foxes sound like in Japanese.
