Amata's main thing is that he floats—literally. His levitation powers kick in whenever he gets emotional, whether he's scared or excited, which made him pretty paranoid about his own abilities growing up. To keep things under control, he wears weighted boots designed to ground him and stop accidental liftoffs. It's a workaround, but it works.
For most of his life, he genuinely hated having these powers. That changed the moment Mikono got attacked by the Abductors and he realized he could actually use his ability to protect her. Once he committed to it, he managed to pilot a vector and break through Aquaria's seal—the one that was keeping male and female pilots from uniting. By calling out the true name, he successfully summoned Aquarion Evol.
Fans have noted that he's got "Wings" manifesting on his feet, which ties into his levitation theme and shows his powers operating at a deeper level than just floaty boots and willpower.
