Takayanagi hangs around the Genshiken crowd pretty regularly—they're friendly enough. He's basically caught in the middle whenever drama breaks out between his Manga Society girls and outsiders. Things got awkward when Ogiue tried to join the club; the Manga Society girls weren't having it, but Takayanagi was clearly relieved when Genshiken stepped in and accepted her instead. The tension makes sense considering the Manga Society girls already had beef with the other Genshiken members for reasons that, honestly, don't need spelling out.
