Ebense was an Alliance military captain who found himself caught up in one of the series' most pivotal political moments. He's best known for his role as the public face of the National Salvation Military Council—the military faction that launched a coup against the Alliance government.
The coup itself turned out to be a setup. Once the Council realized that Reinhard von Lohengramm had orchestrated the whole thing as a distraction, their position collapsed. After Dwight Greenhill's death, Ebense made the announcement everyone was waiting for: the Council's surrender to Yang Wen-li.
Rather than face what came next, he took his own life.
