Kenji Fujima serves as both player and coach for Shoyo High, which means he spends most games on the bench. He only steps onto the court when things are dire—when the team's really struggling and needs him. The respect his teammates have for him is remarkable; they actively try to keep him off the court just by playing better, and even the sight of him standing up to join them lights a fire under everyone else.
His personality shifts depending on the role. Off the court and during timeouts, he's genuinely friendly and easygoing—he's known for being genuinely kind to his fans. But once he's in the game, that switches completely. He becomes confident, aggressive, and by his teammate Maki's own admission, "far from rational" as a player.
On court, Fujima's a textbook point guard: he runs the offense and moves the ball around, but he's not afraid to shoot and score when needed. He's regarded as one of the top point guards in all of Kanagawa, and opposing teams know to take him seriously when he enters the game.
There's one notable incident from the National Championships where Toyotama High's captain, Tsuyoshi Minami—nicknamed the "Ace Killer"—deliberately injured Fujima during their match, forcing him out of the game. Shoyo ended up losing that one.
