Free is a laid-back lion who mostly keeps to himself—he doesn't sweat the small stuff as long as it doesn't touch his own world. Despite his apathetic streak, he's fundamentally a decent guy, and that shows through his loyalty to both leaders he's served under. He's particularly respectful toward Louis, which is notable given that Louis is an herbivore trying to suppress his natural instincts for the sake of the organization's mission.
That respect really came through during the Shishigumi's final days. Ibuki had ordered Free to watch Louis and stop him if things went south, and Free took that seriously—he was keeping tabs the whole time. When Ibuki eventually tried to make a meal of Louis, Free actually stepped in and stopped him, then got Louis out of there. He helped him escape the organization entirely so Louis could actually have a shot at a normal life. The catch? Free made it crystal clear that if he ever spotted Louis in the Black Market again, he wouldn't hesitate to finish what Ibuki started.
