Sheska is basically defined by her obsession with books. Her house is so packed with them that it's honestly hard to imagine anyone actually living there.
She used to work as a librarian at the First Branch of the Central City library, but she couldn't help herself—she'd get so absorbed in reading that she'd completely neglect her actual job. Unsurprisingly, she got fired.
What changed everything was when the Central City library burned down. Sheska became invaluable because she has an almost superhuman ability to remember and reproduce anything she's read, word-for-word. The military caught on to this and brought her on board to help recover lost texts, essentially giving her a second chance.
When you put it all together—her collector's obsession, the way she hyperfocuses on books to the exclusion of everything around her, and that photographic recall—it's pretty hard not to see signs of savant autism.
