Midvalley the Hornfreak is a brutal musician with a genuinely unsettling ability: he can weaponize his saxophone, Sylvia, by syncing sound waves to inflict real physical pain and damage. He's also figured out how to cancel out sounds entirely using counter-frequencies, which makes him weirdly versatile for a hired killer. He wasn't always working alone—he had a whole band that would take contracts for cash, until Knives showed up and decimated everyone except him. That experience clearly left some scars, because Midvalley ended up resenting both Knives and Legato (his new boss's right hand), enough that he actually tried to take Legato out. It didn't go well. After Midvalley got killed, Legato literally used his corpse as a weapon against Hoppered, and when they finally buried him, they made sure to put Sylvia on his gravestone. In the anime, he's a lot less central to things—mostly just Legato's muscle until he crosses paths with Vash. That fight ends with him overloading his saxophone and killing himself rather than facing defeat.
