Admiral Kizaru is one of the Marines' three Admirals and best known for wielding the Pika Pika no Mi, a light-based Logia Devil Fruit that lets him move at light speed. His codename means "Yellow Monkey," though he reportedly prefers going by his birth name, Borsalino. He was first mentioned by Robin when the crew encountered Aokiji.
Appearance & Design
Kizaru's a tall, middle-aged man with a weathered face, typically dressed in a yellow striped suit under a standard Marine coat, dark shades, and a Den Den Mushi on his wrist. Character designers based his look on the famous Japanese actor Kunie Tanaka. He stands roughly the same height as Aokiji.
Personality
His temperament sits somewhere between Aokiji's easygoing nature and Akainu's ruthlessness—though he leans heavily toward the former. Kizaru stays calm and unfazed in nearly any situation, whether someone's firing a gun at him or unexpected opponents show up unharmed. He's even laughed off accidentally uprooting an entire mangrove tree with excessive force. That said, he can be surprisingly absent-minded and reckless, like when he wasted enormous power chasing fleeing pirates or tried using a black Den Den Mushi meant only for intercepting calls to contact Sentoumaru.
Where he shifts toward Akainu's cruelty is in how he treats pirates—showing them almost no mercy once he's got them in his sights. He famously captured 500 pirates out of spite following the Sabaody Archipelago incident. He's also willing to pursue former pirates like Silvers Rayleigh simply because of their past crimes, regardless of how long they've been retired. Like Smoker and Sengoku, he views the Shichibukai as nothing more than pirates, regardless of their official status.
Powers & Authority
As an Admiral, Kizaru commands vast Marine forces and can authorize a Buster Call on any island. His Devil Fruit grants him light-speed movement and the ability to fire devastating energy blasts from his fingers and feet, easily obliterating buildings and causing massive explosions. He can also pass through physical objects and regenerate from energy particles, standard Logia perks. Fans often note he's skilled enough with a sword to fight Silvers Rayleigh to a draw, even without relying on his intangibility.
