An American former Green Beret commander who made his name in guerrilla warfare, Gayle was hired as muscle for Kaiba's Death-T theme park—specifically to help eliminate Yugi. He was paired with Bob McGuire and a mysterious assassin, the three of them tasked with hunting Yugi's group through a rigged laser-tag stage. The prize: 10,000 yen per opponent killed.
Of course, the game was heavily stacked in their favor. While Yugi and his friends got toy guns, Gayle's team had real weapons that fired fatal electric shocks. During their strategy session, Gayle confidently volunteered to handle the ambush himself—his specialty. He figured the amateurs would panic the moment he jumped out, and he'd wrap things up in seconds. Back at base, McGuire grumbled that Gayle just wanted all the bounty money.
The plan fell apart when Jonouchi showed up with an even sneakier ambush. Gayle was fast enough to draw on him thanks to his training, but Jonouchi didn't bother with his toy gun—he just kicked Gayle in the face and eliminated him from the game.
In the Toei anime adaptation, the character was completely reimagined as "Red" with a totally different look and backstory, his military background stripped away entirely.
