Youm's whole thing is that he's basically the opposite of what he seems. When you first meet him, he's running with a crew of outlaws and acts like a hardened bandit—the type you'd expect to cause trouble. But it turns out he's genuinely decent underneath all that. After teaming up with Rimuru and earning the title of Champion, he does a complete 180 in terms of how people see him. Now he's the heroic figure, the one everyone looks up to. Funny thing is, he still prefers to keep it real and laid-back when nobody's watching. He's not really the grand hero type at heart, no matter what his reputation says.
