Silvers Rayleigh (the "Dark King")
Rayleigh runs a coating business at the Sabaody Archipelago, specializing in ship coatings for pirates heading to Fish-Man Island. He's genuinely knowledgeable about the work—he understands deep-sea currents and handles most of the major operations himself.
He's best known as the former first mate of Gold Roger, which made him the second-in-command of the entire crew. The naming convention is pretty on-the-nose: just as silver ranks below gold in value, Rayleigh held the position directly beneath the captain.
Fans often note that he's left-handed, wielding his sword with his left hand. He's also the only person known to have seen the Straw Hat on all three of its confirmed owners, which is a small but interesting detail that connects him to the series' history.
