Gilbert Dullindal chairs the PLANT Supreme Council as a moderate voice, though his background is pure science—he's a physician and geneticist rather than a career politician. He's openly committed to ending conflict between Naturals and Coordinators, between Earth and PLANT. To the PLANT/ZAFT faction he's a supporting player, but fans recognize him as the series' true antagonist, particularly against the original Gundam SEED protagonists.
Before politics, Dullindal was a brilliant young biomedical researcher focused on genetics. He treated Rau Le Creuset, one of his closest friends, managing the genetic deterioration that plagued him—though even Dullindal couldn't reverse Rau's eventual decline. That failure, combined with witnessing Rau's existential despair, deeply influenced how Dullindal came to envision a perfectly ordered society.
His personal life has been complicated. He had a serious relationship with Talia Gladys, who later becomes captain of the Minerva, but she ended things wanting a child he apparently wouldn't give her. By CE 73, though, they've resumed sleeping together, and they're shown sharing quarters on the Minerva—suggesting whatever ended their relationship never fully resolved.
