Nagakura Shinpachi serves as second lieutenant under Hijikata Toshizo and Kondo Isami. He's best known for his easygoing, playful personality—the guy who cracks jokes and generally keeps things light with his fellow soldiers. You'll usually catch him hanging around with his best friend Harada Sanosuke, and together they love giving Toudou Heisuke a hard time.
Behind the humor, though, Shinpachi's got a serious side. He's a genuinely skilled swordsman, which is exactly why he earned his position as second lieutenant. His rank isn't just for show.
