Rika is a young girl from Shell Town who becomes central to Zoro's early story. She tried to bring him onigiri while he was locked up, hoping to thank him, but Zoro turned her away. When Helmeppo showed up, he cruelly took the rice balls from her and insulted them—complaining they had sugar instead of salt before spitting them out. He then had a marine officer throw her out, though Luffy caught her before she hit the ground.
The whole reason Zoro ended up imprisoned in the first place was because he'd defended Rika from Helmeppo's vicious pet wolf. Helmeppo took this as a personal affront and sentenced Zoro to thirty days in jail. Rather than cause more problems, Zoro accepted the punishment without complaint.
Despite that rough start, Rika eventually warmed up to both Helmeppo and Koby during their time in Shell Town. She was genuinely sad when they left with Vice-Admiral Garp. She's shown up in various filler episodes and TV specials since then, usually hanging out with her friends Ninjin, Piman, and Tamanegi.
Her mother, Ririka, is a bartender and her only known family member.
