Doburoku is the Demon Deimons' coach and trainer—and a guy who genuinely loves his sake. His path to the job was pretty roundabout: he fled to the United States after racking up a two-million-yen gambling debt to loan sharks. Originally hunting for talented American football prospects, he ended up coaching a beach football team called Too Tattoos instead, whipping them into shape through notoriously brutal training. When Hiruma managed to gamble away enough money in Las Vegas to cover Doburoku's debts, he finally came back to Japan and joined the Devil Bats as their coach and conditioning specialist.
Back at Sengoku University, Doburoku and Ojo's trainer Shoji were teammates on the football squad and earned the nickname "The Twin Japanese Blades." He played tight-end back then. Both participated in the legendary Death March, where Shoji worked the offensive line while Doburoku anchored the defense. When nearly every other teammate dropped out around the 200-kilometer mark, Doburoku pushed himself too hard on the truck—hard enough to blow out his right knee permanently.
He's got a stubborn, no-quit attitude, though he's genuinely intimidated by Hiruma and often defers to him for major calls, especially in high-pressure situations. That stubbornness shows itself in weird ways: when Komusubi went missing, Doburoku found him so inspiring that he kept searching even after the guy had already been found and brought back.
