Maruko

Maruko is a messy, perpetually late nine-year-old in third grade who lives with her family of six in pretty tight financial circumstances. She's basically the opposite of her older sister—a sixth-grader who's neat, organized, and way too responsible. They share a room, which. yeah, that's a whole thing.
Like most kids, Maruko's main hobbies are avoiding homework and chores. She's got her grandfather wrapped around her finger and uses it shamelessly, while constantly bickering with her sister over everything. Despite being a pretty lazy and disorganized kid in general, though, she's not actually a bad person—she genuinely does try to do the right thing, even if she doesn't always follow through.
