Jun Uozomi is Ryonan's team captain and one of the most physically dominant centers in Kanagawa high school basketball. His main rival is Takenori Akagi of Shohoku—though they've never faced off directly in a decisive win, there's genuine respect between them, almost bordering on friendship. When Akagi was beaten down mentally after getting outplayed against Sannoh, Uozomi actually lifted his spirits. Sakuragi has taken to calling him "Boss Monkey" for being built like Akagi but somehow even taller.
The thing is, Uozomi wasn't always this way. He came into high school as a genuinely terrible player—all height, basically nothing else—and got bullied relentlessly by his seniors for it. Coach Taoka Moichi stuck with him though, and Uozomi eventually transformed into the beast he is now. His raw size and power are pretty much unmatched at the high school level.
But he's got a serious problem: his temper and poor self-control in games have bitten Ryonan more than once. During the rematch with Shohoku, Hanamichi completely got in his head and baited him into four fouls, nearly getting him ejected.
After Ryonan's loss to Shohoku in the prefectural trials knocked them out of nationals, Uozomi stepped away from basketball to train as a chef and help run his family's ramen restaurant. Sendoh took over as captain.
