Tsubaki Kaname
The karate club captain at Jindai High, Tsubaki is genuinely talented—when he can actually see. Being severely nearsighted means he's basically helpless without his glasses, which naturally leads to a lot of embarrassing moments. He's obsessed with beating Sousuke, who apparently got the better of him at some point. His pride won't let it go, so he's constantly pestering Sousuke for rematches that Sousuke has a convenient way of dodging.
He's got it bad for Kaname, though his confession game is. rough. In the short story "Irrelevant Emotion," he accidentally says Sousuke's name while confessing his feelings, which creates this whole running joke that he and Sousuke might be into each other. It's played entirely for laughs, but it definitely gets mileage out of the misunderstanding.
Mizuki ends up developing feelings for him—timing varies depending on which version you're reading. In Fumoffu! it happens near the end, but in "Irrelevant Emotion" she falls for him after he saves her from falling out a window.
Character-wise, he borrows a lot from Ranma ½: the obsessive rival energy of Ryoga mixed with the nearsighted comedic fumbling of Mousse. It's a solid formula that works pretty well for him.
