Chakuro's the type of kid who won't stop asking questions—he's genuinely curious about everything, whether it's the logistics of how mud whales actually stay afloat or the deeper question of why feelings matter so much. His obsession with writing is pretty intense; he and his grandfather both treat it like some kind of affliction, though it's clearly just who he is.
As the settlement's archivist, there's an interesting contradiction in Chakuro: he's supposed to write with detachment and objectivity, but he's actually incredibly expressive and wears his emotions on his sleeve. Still, people rely on his records—the council definitely does. His work matters.
The one thing that really stands out about him socially is how openly he feels things. He cries at funerals even when he probably shouldn't, when it's not considered appropriate. It's not a weakness so much as just. who he is. He hasn't learned to hide it yet, or maybe he just doesn't see the point in trying.
