2nd year studentMusashi is the Devil Bats' place kicker and one of the team's founding members alongside Hiruma and Kurita. Despite being only 17, he looks significantly older thanks to his buzz-cut and stubble, which people constantly remark on.
He initially left the team during his freshman year spring season when his father fell seriously ill. Unable to continue school, he took over running his father's construction business as a foreman. Though he wanted to play again, he stubbornly refused to rejoin the Devil Bats—until Sena and Monta's determination convinced him to come back, on the condition that the team actually became strong enough to compete.
His return timing differs between versions: the manga has him comeback during the Seibu game after his father physically hits him for abandoning the team, while the anime delays it until the Bando Spiders matchup. That game also marks the start of his rivalry with Sasaki Koutaro, the Spiders' kicker whom Hiruma claims has never missed.
Musashi's right leg is legitimately devastating on kickoffs—he consistently pins opponents deep in their own territory or forces touchbacks. The "60-yard Magnum" everyone talks about? Hiruma made that up to hype him as unstoppable. Musashi himself keeps correcting people that it's fake.
His name is a clever reference to Miyamoto Musashi, the legendary samurai known for dual-sword mastery. The kanji in Takekura can read as Musashi, and the connection makes sense: he delivers two crucial kicks per possession (field goal or extra point, then the kickoff). His rivalry with Sasaki parallels Miyamoto's famous showdown with Sasaki Kojiro.
