An ex-convict who gets released from prison and immediately seeks out the legendary Eighth Generation Yakumo Yuurakutei—the storyteller who performed in his prison and left a lasting impression on him. Yakumo takes him on as his first-ever apprentice, a pretty rare move for someone of his stature. He's given the apprentice name Yotarou, which is rakugo slang for "fool," a fitting joke for someone starting completely fresh in the world of traditional storytelling.
