Maka is Soul's meister and the brains of their partnership—while he brings the muscle, she's the one strategizing ways to exploit an opponent's weaknesses. She keeps a level head most of the time, though when she loses her temper, she makes it known, usually by kicking Soul (especially when he's being perverted or getting too cozy with Blair).
Her father is the current death scythe for the Shinigami, which is. complicated. She clearly loves him but can't stand his constant womanizing. Her mother, also a scythe technician, divorced him years ago. Maka's also visibly frustrated about her slow physical development—something the series doesn't let her forget about. When Dr. Stein examined her soul, he pegged her as "a serious person who tries hard," which pretty much sums her up.
