Rick
Leo's younger brother who carries a broken locket of their mother—a keepsake he refuses to part with despite it being permanently sealed shut. The locket becomes crucial to his survival when mercenaries capture him in Central. During a rescue operation involving Scar, Alphonse, and Edward, Rick nearly doesn't make it, but the force of impact during the rescue finally forces the locket open. Inside, they discover a photo of Rick, Leo, and their mother, along with several pills designed to treat blindness.
Later, Edward manages to secure military permission for both Rick and Leo's release and transfer to Resembool, but the brothers decline the offer and remain in Central.
In the manga, Rick's story takes a different direction. He and an old man pull Scar out of the sewers in East City after one of Scar's encounters with the Homunculi. The two help treat his wounds until mercenaries show up looking to arrest him, forcing Scar to disappear into the slums. Rick doesn't appear again after that. The manga version is depicted as fair-skinned and fair-haired, and there are hints he's half-Ishvalan—he reassures the injured Scar by saying his mother and he are Ishvalan too. Notably, he goes unnamed in the manga version.
