Gin is best known for his unwavering loyalty to Don Krieg—he'll execute pretty much any order without question, no matter how brutal or inhumane. This earned him the nickname "Gin the Demon Man," though the loyalty comes from a place of genuine fear. He's so terrified of Krieg that he'd rather poison himself than risk disobeying, which he proves by breathing in deadly MH5 gas after Krieg orders him to ditch his mask.
That said, Gin isn't totally without a conscience. Unlike Krieg, he has some actual honor in him. He can't bring himself to kill Sanji—the first person who ever showed him genuine kindness by saving him from starving. It's one of his few moments of real humanity breaking through.
