Takahiko Urino is a first-year at Funato High School and part of the newspaper club. He's dating Osanai, and he's pretty invested in keeping her interested and involved with the club's work. To that end, he encourages her to dig deeper into an arson case the club's investigating—partly to give her a reason to stick around school, partly because he wants to impress her. Not everyone on the newspaper club is on board with his approach, but Takahiko pushes forward anyway, leaning on Osanai's natural curiosity to drive the investigation.
