In the town of Lohta, an annual festival celebrates Aaron, a legendary hero who supposedly ended a war centuries ago using the power of the World Tree. Satoshi and Pikachu win the town's battle tournament and are crowned this year's Wave Leader Hero. During the victory celebration in the castle, Mew suddenly appears and abducts Pikachu. At the same time, Lucario—a legendary Pokémon sealed away for centuries—breaks free and encounters Satoshi. Now Satoshi has to figure out what's really going on: where Mew took Pikachu and what it wants, what the Wave Leader legend actually means, and how it all connects to Lucario's mysterious past. With Lucario's help, he heads toward the World Tree to get answers and hopefully rescue his partner.
