Synopsis

Haunted by his past and the lingering presence of the Newtype Quess Paraya's spirit, Hathaway Noa joins the terrorist group Mafty under the assumed identity "Mafty Navue Erin." The organization wages a campaign against the Earth Federation, and they manage to get their hands on the Ξ Gundam—an incredibly powerful prototype mobile suit that Hathaway pilots. Using it, Mafty launches an attack on a high-level Federation cabinet meeting in Adelaide, Australia, hoping to force the politicians to reject a bill that would expand the Federation's already substantial authority. The story's based on the novelized version of Char's Counterattack that creator Yoshiyuki Tomino wrote, not the animated film adaptation. Because of this, there are some notable differences between what happens in the movie and this story, putting it in a grayer area of the Universal Century timeline rather than strict canon.
