Synopsis

A thousand years in the future, humanity is on the brink of extinction. Massive alien creatures called Gauna wiped out Earth long ago, and now mankind survives aboard enormous generation ships constantly under siege. The only way to fight back is with giant mecha called Gardes—pilots have to destroy a Gauna's core to prevent it from regenerating its fleshy exterior. Things change when Nagate Tanikaze emerges from the depths of the ship Sidonia, where he's spent his whole life in isolation. Thanks to countless hours spent training in combat simulators, he's become an unnaturally talented pilot. When he gets the chance to pilot the legendary Garde Tsugumori, he becomes one of humanity's best hopes for survival—and Sidonia's last line of defense.
