Mirai is a 13-year-old girl living in the human world who discovers a mysterious object crashing into a nearby park. She rushes over with her stuffed bear Mofurun and finds Riko, a girl her age from the magical world, flying on a broom. Riko's on a quest for a powerful jewel called the Link Stone Emerald, and she fills Mirai in on what's going on. Things get messy fast when Batti, a minion of the dark magic group Dokurokushi, shows up demanding the Link Stone Emerald. He transforms into a monster called a Yokubaru using dark magic. Mirai and Riko don't have much choice—they join hands, chant "Cure-up Rapapa!" and transform into the legendary Pretty Cure.
